[MonoDevelop] MD failed to start, ETA on MonoDevelop 2.0?

I've revisited monodevelop fairly regularly for the last year. I've never
managed to get it to start, though this is by no means intended as a flame.
There are a lot of environmental factors conspiring against me (can't get
root, can't get yum, and numerous other self-inflicted corporate issues).

I've downloaded and compiled the monodevelop 1.0 source tarballs, plus
required support packages like gtk-sharp & glib.

POINTS TO NOTE:
1. I'm using the "mono-1.9_5-installer.bin". This is probably the source of
a lot of my problems. I've tried building from source (don't have access to
yum). I suspect building from source would go smoothly if I could install
to the default paths /usr/lib, usr/bin. Unfortunately that's not an option.

2. When building monodevelop, there were numerous link errors to
"/usr/lib/mono", even though I specified a prefix to the actual mono install
location. After updating the Makefiles to point to the actual mono install
location, monodevelop built/installed without warning.

QUESTION
I'm looking forward to the MD2.0 release. Will there be an installer? (for
which distros).
