[Mono-osx] MonoMac 2.6.0.1 not found during mdtool build

I've been able to solve this issue by setting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH to 
/Applications/MonoDevelop.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/pkgconfig.

Could this be an installation-order issue?
