It would be ideal to ship JIT compilers for other architectures, but it
would delay Mono 1.0, and there are not a lot of people jumping to
implement those.

Mono 1.0 is not the end of Mono, it is just a stable point release that
people can use to run their applications.  If you feel unhappy about the
platform support, contact your favorite platform vendor, and get them
involved into supporting Mono, or wait for us to get around to implement
it.
