Fixed in svn head r86390.

I didn't use your patch - the change I committed will match filenames such as
'file.' (note the trailing dot.)  Windows doesn't seem to allow this in a
filename so I am unable to emulate its behaviour, but I think it's more useful
to return this pattern than ignore it, which is what your change would do. 
Reopen the bug and comment if you disagree :)
