[MonoTouch] iOS 5 Performance

I'm building a game using MonoGame and since upgrading to iOS 5 the
performance has been terrible. It used to run at around 56-60 fps, it now
runs between 10-30 fps. The issue seems to be memory related as I can switch
off background images or collision detection and the frame rate jumps up.

Has the way memory is handled been changed in either iOS 5 or the latest
version of MonoTouch?
Are there any profiling tools you'd recommend to help me get to the bottom
of the problem?

Cheers
