[MonoTouch] Hanging when "Updating Xcode project"

What I'm doing: I open my solution in MonoDevelop, double click on the xib
file I want to edit. Xcode opens and I make some changes. I save the file
and go back to MonoDevelop where the bottom status bar changes to "Updating
Xcode Project" and I get a color wheel cursor for the next couple minutes,
followed by the error.

The odd thing is this happens AFTER editing the file in Xcode and returning
to MonoDevelop. As a result, Monodevelop hangs for a minute or two and it
seems my changes usually don't get synched back to C# properly.
