[MonoDevelop] Help - how to replace string in selection

Hi,

I am wondering if my MonoDevelop 5.9.4 running in Mint-17 is properly
installed as I am having trouble to get MD to perform search & replace in a
selection. I am wondering if anyone can show me how to do this properly.

I select a block of text, press Ctrl-H and the panel that comes up assumes I
am searching the selected text in the current file which is not what I want.
When I went to use the drop down arrow to change it to 'Search in Selection'
the selection block is cleared.

When the 'Search in selection' is checked and I enter the search text and
the replacement text and then select the block of text that I want the
replacement to take place, pressing the replace or even replace all button
does not produce anything. I can clearly see the search text (which is a
character) in the selection.

I frequently have to copy the block to say Geany or Kate, to do a search and
replace and then transfer that result back to MonoDevelop. Surely, this is a
very basic requirement of any IDE or text editor and I must have missed the
subtle operational procedure.

Can someone place advise me how I can do:
1) Search in a block of text
2) More importantly replacing text in a block of text.

Thanks.

MarL
