[MonoDevelop] Can't compile monodevelop on windows

After trying to compile monodevelop without success on windows (there were 16 errors related to invalid namespaces), I tried to clone the repo again, this time with git clone --recursive. Suddenly, the command stops with this error:
Clone of 'git://github.com/mono/mono-addins.git' into submodule path 'main/external/mono-addins' failed
Any ideas?
