[MonoDevelop] Virtual Space

Thanks Mike for the response.
 
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me. Either checked or unchecked the behavior is the same. I made the change in both the Project -> Solutions Options -> Code Formatting, and the Tools -> Options -> Source Code -> Code Formatting locations but see no change in behavior. I even exited and restarted MonoDevelop, reloaded the project but no luck.
 
Btw, I'm using version 4.0.1, on a Windows 8.1 machine.
 
Any other ideas?

    It's a bit hidden - enable 'remove trailing whitespaces'. 

    I admit that the option name is a bit misleading - but that's
    basically what it's for - to prevent lines that only have
    whitespaces.

        Does MonoDevelop allow for virtual space on
          lines? Does it allow the cursor to be moved up and down
          through the file without changing the column?

           

          If so, how do I enable this?
