[MonoDevelop] Xamarin Studio freezes when selecting a .net solution or project

That didn't help: the problem seems to be worse.
I decided to recreate the solution starting with a freshly created web application.
Xamarin Studio freezes immediately after the files are created. The
Default.aspx file is highlighted and the rainbow disc starts spinning.
