[MonoDevelop] where can newbie learn how to single step a c# program in monodevelop

I am probably in the wrong forum....

If I create a hello world, I can single step aok.
If I use some existing code and put in breakpoints, I can´t seem to single
step.

(It just runs right through the program and doesn´t hit my breakpoints)
