[MonoDevelop] monodevelop fails to start

Hi,
I just upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 and re-installed my mono/monodevelop
from sources as I always do.
mono 2.10.8
monodevelop 3.0.3.4 (and 3.0.3.5 had the same issue)

Launching monodevelop does nothing. It returns right away and nothing
is printed to the console output.
I can launch other C# applications fine as far as I can tell.

Any ideas how I can debug/fix this?
I installed:
gnome-desktop-sharp 2.24.0
gnome-sharp 2.24.1
gtk-sharp 2.12.11
mono-addins 0.6.2
mono-debugger 2.10
monodevelop-debugger 3.0.3.4
