[MonoDevelop] Access to path ~/.recently-used denied

Hi all. I'm running MonoDevelop 2.8.2 on OS X Lion. MonoDevelop starts and
runs okay but I'm unable to create a solution as I don't have access to
~/.recently-used

I've tried to create the folder manually and set permissions as best I know
how. No dice.
I've tried running MonoDevelop as SUDO from terminal hoping that would
create the directory for me. No dice.

How can I either set the location for the recently used files or correct
this error?

HALP!
