[MonoDevelop] Project that compiles with XBuild failes on MonoDevelop

Hi,

I have certain projects that I have gotten to build successfully using
XBuild. But when I open the csproj files on MonoDevelop, it seems to not
recognize many of the references. And for some references that I tried to
add by hand, mono develop didn't allow it saying that those (reference)
projects are not built for Mono. So the question I have is : whether this is
because of some thing in Monodevelop ? or does XBuild not take care of
building with target framework as Mono ? I now doubt that XBuild might be
building the csproj's with whatever is the target framework mentioned in the
respective csproj files.

Any help is much apprecited,,,,
