[MonoDevelop] Running a Mono application without Mono installed?

Ubuntu, like a lot of the main distros these days, tends to include Mono
as a dependency for other things. I think they're trying to move away
from it to some degree (like replacing F-Spot with Shotwell), but those
that are more "user friendly" and less "hard-core FOSS" may well contain
Mono.
