Also, if you'd like a slightly hacky method for a quick fix...

copy the AddIns/MonoDevelop.GtkCore folder from a Windows/Linux install to /Applications/MonoDevelop.app/Contents/MacOS/lib/monodevelop/AddIns on OSX.

This appears to work fine.

After many years of not working at all on Mac, the GTK# designer is
now functional in trunk. I'll release a build soon...
