[MonoDevelop] Linux kernel module programming

I am using monodevelop (MD) to write my first linux kernel module (a simple
Hello World). I have read that I need to create make files to execute it. My
main question is, would I be able to use the debugger on these kernel
modules? What configurations I would need to do get this running?
