Well...

I'm not sure if you can use it without any problem. Maybe it worth a try. If
it doesn't work (if there is unsatisfied dependency or something like this),
maybe you should upgrade to ibex: if you don't care about LTS or not.

If there is a problem with this on gutsy and/or you don't want to upgrade
then you should try to compile mono from tar.gz/svn. But be sure that you
remove every package which is related to mono.
