[MonoDevelop] Monodevelop & VB.NET

Kinda confused.. I want to develop a app using a
Visual Basic type environment (gui builder, stand
alone app etc).

I can do this w/REALBasic but can I do the same
w/Mono+Monodevelop using VB.net code?

If so is it as simple as installing mono/monodevelop
and buying a vb.net book and voila..start coding?
