You're referring to "code folding", which is one of our most common
feature requests. Our parser supports it, but It was not possible to
implement the text editor side of it while using GTK+ 2.4.

We recently updated our GTK+ version requirements to 2.8, but did not
have time to implement code folding before the MD 1.0 feature freeze.
