Hello,
I'm writing to ask about the status of the 'Web Service References'
addin (if there is one). If nobody is working on this right now (or has
no plans to work on it in the immediate future), then I'd like to volunteer.
For the first release I'm thinking about implementing some stuff like:
- proxy class generation
- helper classes generation (for parameters etc.)
- support for synchronous / asynchronous method calls
- automatically add the service URL to app config file
- list project Web references in the Project node
- Update / Delete Web Reference commands
I've been a developer for twelve years now, the last three as a C#
professional. Most of my experience is Windows-based (BASIC, C++,
Pascal, Java, C#), lately working mostly with various versions of Visual
Studio. My *nix development experience is pretty limited atm, though I
must say mono and monodevelop have made me feel right at home ;)
I've also attached a tiny 'Generate Guid' addin very similar to the one
present in Visual Studio (it adds itself to the Tools menu).
If I do go ahead with the project, I plan to work on it on a daily
basis, at least until I have something useful and stable. Please give me
some feedback on this.
Cheers,
Sorin
