I don't know if you've seen this page, but it's handy if you want to
avoid messing up the distro-supplied Mono:
http://mono-project.com/Parallel_Mono_Environments. I used to install
Mono SVN into prefix=/usr, but the occasional breakage gets annoying.
I now install the SVN version to /opt/mono.
