[Mono-osx] why Mono.framework instead of Mono-version.framework

.... or an alternate (b), why does a new Mono install for OSX blow away the
previous installs. I installed 3.12.1 over 3.12.0 and
/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions only has 3.12.1. I would like
to also have 3.10.0 installed simultaneously. How do I do this without
pulling my hair out?
