Well, that's a bummer. Trust me, I'd love to get away from using the
registry here, but there's too much infrastructure in place to deviate at
this point. I could try and hack up a fix using a persistent XML/SQLite
solution, but it doesn't even sound like I have that.

Hmm, I wonder if it's possible to override the default Registry API to point
to a file of my choosing. That way, I could simulate the registry and give
it permanence.
