thanks for the reply.

okay, I understand. I'll often see 'no' then, when tools are missing. I
should check the output of configure and look at the flags to determine
what's wrong.

I read here, http://linux.die.net/man/1/sn, that mcs references sn, which
makes sense.

In fact I'll be given the opportunity to install Ubuntu's latest kernel in a
week or so, so hopefully I'll be able to install mono from aptitude and not
compile if from source.
