Testing mod_mono and Apache on Windows is not our routine task, we
develop and test Mono ASP.NET primarily on Unix and, for the moment,
this is the recommended environment.

Frankly, I don't understand this argument - you are using a closed
source, proprietary operating system. IIS is part of the system (even in
Windows XP) so using it won't make you more "exposed" to prioprietary
software. If you want a tested environment for hosting your application
in Mono, switch to Linux - this is the best advice which can be given at
the moment.
