the "Shared Source License" stuff is for reading and understanding how 
something works, not plain copying it (e.g. if some algorithm is patented 
you'd have to use an alternative implementation)

btw, MS has paid Kodak money to license that Wang Labs patent (the one Sun 
is in court with Kodak about, for using the patent's OOP-related stuff in 
Java). I think that MS license includes using those things in .NET too. Not 
sure what mono has done or will do about that issue though (could wait to 
see what comes up from Kodak-Sun dispute, or try to talk with Kodak on 
getting some free license for that patent potential/future usage in mono, 
just-in-case [not admiting that the stuff IS being used in mono though])
