Let's not turn this into a long thread. The ECMA C# standard says
(chapter 6, "Acronyms and abbreviations"):
The name C# is pronounced "C Sharp."
The pronunciation is standardized; if you personally want to call it
"C Octothorpe," do so, but the larger part of your audience will
either not know or not care why you say it incorrectly.
