Even before the upheaval, BSD and Solaris were mainly supported by
third-party contributors. There's no indication that this will change.

Mono for iOS and Android is currently under development as a commercial,
closed-source product. After the recent debacle, It would be really nice if
Xamarin offered some additional guarantees, like "we'll release the source
for these products if we ever go under". Unlikely to happen, unfortunately,
but it would be reassuring to those paying customers who were left hanging
in the air after the recent debacle.
