Could you post some details about the error using the Linux installer?
The Linux installer comes with gtk# 2.4, while the windows installer
comes with gtk# 2.8.  Maybe that was the issue?

Please run you app with with setting this first:

export MONO_LOG_LEVEL=debug

and post the output so we can debug this.
