[Mono-devel-list] Will Mono run on Playstation 3

Thank you, that is what I was trying to find out. Sony is marketing PS3 as
supporting Linux, if anything it will be good for them if more people buy
it, and the ability to run Linux (and run it well) will not diminish their
market share in any way, so I don't see Sony blocking any effort, or lack of
documentation being a problem. As far as "...and someone is willing to
invest the time", will this be a significant effort? I don't know how
different the cell architecture is from the (Mac) PowerPC on which Mono is
currently running. I can imagine that it won't be a simple recompile ;-) but
how big a port will it be, or is not enough known about the cell processor
at this stage?

Pete.

I believe the correct response to this question is "I cannot invision what,
if anything, will preclude mono from being adapted to run on the playstation
3". IE, if Sony does not block work, if adequate processor and system
documentation is available, and someone is willing to invest the time, it
will most probably happen.
