[Mono-devel-list] Mono 1.1.4 - will build but won't install

I run Ubuntu Hoary. I got the source for mono 1.1.4. It successfully 
configures and builds. However, when I try "sudo make install" it quits 
with this:

libtool: install: error: cannot install `libmono-profiler-cov.la' to a 
directory not ending in /usr/local/lib
make[3]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/mattisking/cvs/mono-1.1.4/mono/profiler'
make[2]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mattisking/cvs/mono-1.1.4/mono/profiler'
make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/mattisking/cvs/mono-1.1.4/mono'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

Any suggestions?
