You're right, I meant to copy the complete gtk+ runtime to the prefix of
mono, not mono/lib. Anyways, that's why good book authors have good
proof readers. :)
/s means recursively copy subdirectories and the files within.

Daniel,
Thanks, your six step directions for installing Mono Beta 3 and
GTK# on Windows was very helpful.
However, step 5., part b. is a little unclear to me. Would not the
gtk+ runtime simply consist of the .dll's?
The other directories of gtk+ should not have to be copied to D:
\Mono-Beta3\lib (D is Drive where mono is).
Any file that is not a .dll probably should not be copied to mono's
lib directory.
On the xcopy command line, what is "E:\test /s" about? Typo
boo-boo!
I will follow my assumptions and copy the gtk+ .dll's to D:
\Mono-Beta3\lib.
Then I will try TreeViewDemo.exe.
Wish me luck.
Rick
