No progress and it's unlikely to change in the near future. 

The main issue is that libgdiplus original and main requirement was to support
System.Drawing for System.Windows.Forms.dll. That, and the fact that GDI+
design differs a lot from Cairo (both valid designs, just not identical goals
and philosophies) makes it impossible to accommodate all scenarios.

Contributions are welcome to reduce the negative effects (mainly on graphical
apps) but the SWF requirement is a very limitating, frustrating and error-prone
(regressions that automated testing won't spot) process.
