I tried the "make clean" then "make distclean" then run ./configure again but
the test fails in the same place. I assume I need to pull the mono-2.6.1 svn
then apply the patch before running ./autogen.sh to make this work.

make dist fails with:

make mcs.pot-update
make[4]: Entering directory
`/home/sjmunroe/src/mono-ppc/mono-2.6.1-patched/po/mcs'
make[4]: *** No rule to make target `../../../mcs/mcs/anonymous.cs', needed by
`mcs.pot-update'.  Stop.

checked:

find ./ -name anonymous.cs
/mcs/mcs/anonymous.cs

so anonymous.cs is there but perhaps the make is backing out one level to many
