Test used for researching the problem

I've the attached test to test on the Mac. Turns out that you get different
behaviors with select and poll for the same socket with the same options!!!

Since we're not changing from poll() to select(), I'm going to mark the bug as
WONTFIX and recommend not setting the blocking state of the socket to false in
this case.
