I reproduced an install on my VM (workstation 6.5).

- Mouse in/out is working here. Xorg references the vmmouse driver.
- DnD from guest to host is working
- DnD host to guest is not working (The files are copied to the guest, the
progress bar is visible, but the files are not put in their final destination.
they remain in /tmp/VMwareDnD/

Chnaged the following settings (local) then it works:
- updated /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop to launch
vmware-user-suid=wrapper instead of vmware-user
- chmod 4755 /usr/bin/vmware-user-suid-wrapper
