Q: Did you leave a session open on the Windows side during the 15 hours?
A: No, VS was running but no session was open to the server.  Without
restarting VS, a restart of the server solved the issue.

Q: Did you leave VS open during the 15 hours?
A: Yes, see above.

Q: Did you try connecting multiple times from Windows before restarting the
server. If so, did it fail every time?
A1: Yes, several attempts were made
A2: Yes, it failed each time.
