As usual, the problem is not with the patch itself, but with the regressions it
might introduce.

A set of unit tests, and a fake FTP server would help a lot in getting this
patch approved.   I currently do not have time to study the Ftp source code and
figure out if this is good to go or not.

Unit tests would raise the confidence level that I have in applying this
blindly. 

I always wanted a "fake" Ftp server to be included in the unit tests, as we do
for the Web server tests, but it never materialized.
