+I can't build the snapshot (requires an installation of mono, which 
+isn't happening with the 1.1.1 release).

+I nuked my mono-1.1.1 directory, un-tarred and reconfigured. It hung 
+again during monoburg creating sample.c. I attached a debugger to get 
+a backtrace and got nothing useful. When I looked at the build, it 
+continued, leaving a zero-length sample.c file.

+It may be worth noting that I have a dual processor system (Athlon-MP 
+2000).
