We are encouraging distributions to stick to Gtk# 2.4.xx and to not ship
Gtk# 2.6, for a number of reasons:

	* It increases the likelyhood of applications will run on older
	  distributions.

	* 2.6 is a relatively shortly-lived interface (2.4 to 2.8 is
	  a fairly small window).

	* We will support a 2.8-based release relatively soon, so
	  maintaining 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8 is too much for us deal with.

	* We will not likely do bug fix releases of 2.6.xx.

It will compile *and* run on 2.6 and 2.8. We can not talk about 2.10
as that does not exist, but as long as the Gtk+ people do not screw up,
there is no reason why we should.
