[Gtk-sharp-list] Setting RadioMenuitem without Activating it?

Is it possible to "select" a RadioMenuItem without having it call its
activated event?

For example, I have two locations where a setting can be selected, both
are a list of radio items, one in a form, one in a popup menu, when one
changes the item, it calls its activated event. if i set the other to
active on the right entry, it calls ITS activated event, so i get this
chain of events. not good :)

I need to be able to set an item in a radio list, and not have to call
activate.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks
