I'm not really sure about your errors, but you should probably
be OK with the latest release stuff.  Although you might have
some problems getting some stuff to run.

For example, gtkhtml, gnome-db, and some other stuff might
not work for you.  (But this is more of a problem of getting
the proper version of those libraries on you system; which
often involves compiling many many things from CVS... at
least that's my experience.)
