[Group-leaders] Welcome and Intros

Hi everyone,

I'm Rob Gibbens (@RobGibbens).  I've been a huge Ximian/Novell/Xamarin fan
since MonoTouch was first announced. I've been a .Net developer since the
first beta in 2001, and love C#.  Coding on Xamarin has supplanted any
other coding I do for fun.

Onorio Catenacci, Jon Dick, and I organize the Detroit Mobile .Net Users'
Group (@DetMobileNet).  We meet in Southfield, MI, about 20 minutes
northwest of Detroit.  We just got the group started, so we're still
feeling our way around.  We' re trying a format of having a 15-40 minute
presentation, and about an hour of hands on coding and questions and
answers.  We're heavily Xamarin focused, but we'll also be discussing
Windows Phone, WinRT, and alternative mobile technologies for the .Net
developer.  We currently are averaging about 7-10 developers, but we're
hoping to expand that.

Our recent meetings have been
1. First meeting
2. Jon did a presentation on an introduction to Xamarin.  I did a real
quick presentation on File-New-Presentation
3. Jon did a presentation on "My First Xamarin.iOS App"
4. In September, I'll be doing a presentation on MvvmCross

My personal hope for participating in this group is to convince developers
that Xamarin is the best choice for mobile development.  I'm looking
forward to hearing from everyone on the list about what works and what
doesn't.
