[MonoTouch] Possible to prevent app from running in the background when closed?

My client wants to see the splash screen every time the app is fired up. If
the app is closed, it's still running in the background (unless pushed out
of memory?) so that, when they click on the app icon again, it resumes where
it left off (and therefore not showing the splash screen).

Is it possible to prevent this behaviour, so that the app fully closes when
the home button is pressed?
