This will be fixed in 1.2.

As a temporary workaround, you can backup and replace
System.Runtime.Serialization.dll in
/Developer/MonoTouch/usr/lib/mono/2.1 by:

http://evain.net/tmp/System.Runtime.Serialization.dll
