I can speak from VS centric, .net developer with 2 students that I'm 
trying to teach something.

2 aspects content and order of content items.
Order of content items depends if one is going to target both (or even 
more) platforms in parallel.
This is what I'm trying to do when teaching. Explain common-parallel 
stuff. This requires more time,
but at the end You might have dev[s] able to target 3 mobile apps 
(including WP) and even more.

So:

 1. Intro
     1. alternatives pros cons
         1. multitargeting
            (PhoneGap, SecnchaTouch etc)
         2. platform Objective-C Java
 2. Dev environments
     1. OS
         1. scripting (Miguel's list of books)

     2. IDEs
         1. VS + plugins + tools
         2. MD
 3. Patterns
     1. MVP, MVC, MVVM
 4. .net vs mono
     1. I have problems knowing what is in mono implemented
        Venn diagram from set theory (found one for java stuff) with
         1. assemblies
         2. namespaces
         3. classes
     2. emphasize that Business Logic (POCO, business/domain objects)
        are up to 90-95% shared!!
        (My experience)
     3. Diffs
         1. example: WP only async methods while M* allow sync too
         2. Unhandled Exception handling
 5. Platform stuff
     1. naming Widgets-Controls, Properties-Outlets etc...
     2. filesystem
         1. locations
            besides Envirnoment.* and IsolatedStorage
     3. settings-preferences
     4. UI stuff
        several chapters!
         1. simple widgets
         2. ListAdapters,
         3. lifetime, lifecycle
            ViewDidLoad, OnCreate,
     5. packaging
     6. deploying
