[mono-android] Mono for Android - Windows installation fails?

I've downloaded the freebie (emulator only) version of the installer. When I
run it, it immediately told me I was ready to use Mono for Android. I did
already have JDK, Gtk#, MonoDevelop and the Android SDK installed - recent
versions if not the latest. However when I try to create a new Mono for
Android project in MonoDevelop it tells me that the SDK is not installed and
needs to be downloaded from Xamrain. I uninstalled the Xamarin installer,
re-downloaded and re-installed, with he same effect.

What am I doing wrong?
