[mono-android] Threadpool startup time

I've got some code that runs in a threadpool thread. It seems to take a noticeably long time for this thread to start executing. While I realize that there is no time guarantee for a thread to start, this seems to be a really long time. I'm seeing it take somewhere in the neighborhood of 1-3 seconds to start the threadpool thread. BTW, I'm measuring this the old fashion way by counting 1 missisippi so my numbers can be way off. Ultimately, i do feel that that the threadpool threads are starting up way slower than both .NET on windows and Monotouch.
Questions:
Does anyone else see threadpool threads, .net 4 tasks, and similar items take a long time?Does anyone see any difference between threadpool threads on m4a with mt or .net 4 on windows?
Are there differences under the covers with Android that make threadpool threads (or threads in general) hard to startup/work with?
