Think I know what's wrong.
I had same experience, my French brother Henri :-) Installed 2.4.2. then
installed the beta to play around, then deleted the app file and played
around some more.
But the app stopped running. just bounced a few times on the dock bar then
died.
then it finally ran again, once I deleted everything, including installed
MonoDroid and MonoTouch. But thereafter the installs of those two platforms
didn't effect Monodevelop at all. No magical MonoTouch or MonoDroid powers
appeared in the IDE.
but the weird thing was, the name of the packages survived in the add-in
dialog box. So they were being stored somewhere.
No com.mono or com.novell anything in ./Library/Preferences or in /Library
preferences. Hmmm
Sooo...the answer was...
in your home directory, there is a hidden .config file with a MonoDevelop
directory. Delete that thang. Reinstall. Let me know if that works.
I'd do it myself but I'm home with the working machine now :-)
